From the gallery:
Since the invention of the printing press in the fifteenth century, printmaking has provided the means for wide circulation and accessible communication of progressive and democratic ideals. During democracy movements around the world, it has been printmakers who have helped get the word out. As an inexpensive, accessible, and participatory medium, hand pulled prints have the power to promote social change. Prints in the physical public space counter the digital space that often leaves out disenfranchised communities. Power to the Print, a month-long group exhibition at the BRDG gallery in Denver unites a diverse group of Colorado artists who use print media as a tool for social change. These artists engage with ideas of decolonization, social and restorative justice, equality, resistance and interconnected solidarity around the world.
